International Volunteer Day, commemorated annually on 5th December, is a day dedicated to celebrating and recognising the invaluable contributions of volunteers worldwide. It is an opportunity to inspire others to join the global movement of volunteering and to recognize the individuals who dedicate their time to making a difference in the lives of others.
To show our support for this global initiative, we offer a paid volunteering day to all team members each year to support a charity of their choice. This initiative not only supports meaningful causes but also emphasises our commitment to making a positive impact in the communities we serve.
Check out the latest projects we've been involved in during the past few months:
Back in October, our lovely team has shown their support towards Emmanuel House's Winter Shelter in Nottingham. Full of excitement and armed with loads of ingredients, Sam, Lucy, and Matt have cooked 28 portions of vegan chilli with rice, homemade guac, sour cream, and tortilla chips.
Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People is a charity that holds a special place in our heart. With fundraising activities and donations taking place all year around, this autumn our friendly team members have also used their volunteering day to sort out through the charitable donations, ensuring that every item received is in good condition and ready to make an impact.
Last summer, our staff enthusiastically volunteered at The Big Bang Fair alongside members of the Gambica Young Council where they engaged with children from Year 6 to Year 8 in the hopes of inspiring them to explore the exciting possibilities of careers in STEM.
In July, our marketing manager David Zaborowski also took advantage of his volunteering day by taking part in a conservation initiative alongside Nottingham Green Guardian volunteers. Together, they dedicated their day to clearing Himalayan Balsam from the beautiful Highfields Park.
Let's celebrate International Volunteer Day by recognising the positive impact of small changes. Thank you to everyone that contributed!
