This pack contains both the pH adaptor and a general purpose pH electrode which combine to form the immensely popular pH sensor which is used in a lot of investigations in general science, chemistry, biology and environmental science.
Note: As of February 2020 this pack will be supplied with the non-wired BNC version electrode (2253).
Measuring pH:
pH is a unit of measure which describes the degree of acidity or alkalinity of a solution on a logarithmic scale on which 7 is neutral, lower values are more acid and higher values more alkaline.
The pH sensor is supplied calibrated with a pre-set default calibration range making the sensor ready for immediate use. If required the calibration constants of an electrode can be adjusted and stored as a user calibration range for more accurate readings.
The electrode in this pack is a general purpose plastic bodied glass non-refillable electrode, suitable for most investigations.
Practical Teaching:
The SmartQ pH Sensor can be used to investigate a number of scientific experiments such as:
- Testing acids and alkalis
- Acid-base titrations
- Dissolved Oxygen in water
- Enzyme action
- Human or Cell respiration
- Monitoring photosynthesis
- Fermentation
- Monitoring pH change during a chemical reaction
- Water quality
