This is a push-to-make switch fitted with a red LED to give a visual indication of the switches state. The switch is normally open (OFF). When the red button on the top of the housing is pressed the switch is closed (ON) and the red LED on the front will light. A pair of these switches can be used to test students' reaction times. One switch can be used for manual marking of events during data logging activities. The SmartQ Push Button Switch can be used to investigate a number of scientific activities such as:
- Reaction times (requires 2 switches)
- Counter
- As an event marker e.g. the point a chemical is added
- To trigger manually the start of a recording
- Stopwatch e.g. starting and stopping timing
- Recording the time taken by a vehicle to pass from one point to another
- Record the differences in time taken to walk, run or hop over the same distance
