Everything you need to investigate the speed of sound. This kit comprises of a 'Time Machine' laboratory fast timer together with 2 sound switches which allow measurement of the time taken for sound to travel across a known distance.

At its simplest the two sensors are positioned 1m apart - using the speed of sound mode the timer will wait for the trigger sound to occur next to sensor 1 which starts the timing and then when the sound is detected at sensor 2 the timing stops. Thus with a known time and distance the speed can be calculated. The timer is powered by a 9V PP3 Battery (supplied) and is completely standalone - it can also be used for a whole range of other timing experiments.
