Sandstone is made up of well-sorted and well-rounded grains of quartz. This indicates that the clasts in the rocks have traveled a long distance from their source and were heavily eroded along the way. This sample is red due to the inclusion of iron in the chemical structure of the rock. Excellent for classroom mineral study and identification. Ideal for students to compare with white sandstone to understand physical expression of chemical differences. While each specimen will vary slightly in shape, size and colour, it will measure approximately 1" in length. Each is individually packaged, labeled and barcoded for easy identification and storage.
